Hello everyone! Long time, no see! Sorry I didn’t post yesterday
Anyway todays topic is favourite Christmas thing to bake which is Gingerbread men!!
Heres the recipe I always use!
Melted butter, to grease
125g butter, at room temperature
100g (1/2 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar
125ml (1/2 cup) golden syrup
1 egg, separated
375g (2 1/2 cups) plain flour
1 tbs ground ginger
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
Plain flour, to dust
150g (1 cup) pure icing sugar, sifted
8-10 drops red liquid food colouring
8-10 drops green liquid food colouring
Smarties, to decorate
Preheat oven to 180°C. Brush 2 baking trays with melted butter to lightly grease.
Use an electric beater to beat the butter and sugar in a bowl until pale and creamy. Add the golden syrup and egg yolk and beat until combined. Stir in the flour, ginger, mixed spice and bicarbonate of soda. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Press dough into a disc. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 30 minutes to rest.
Meanwhile, place egg white in a clean, dry bowl. Use an electric beater to beat until soft peaks form. Gradually add icing sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Divide icing among 3 bowls. Cover 1 bowl with plastic wrap and place in the fridge. Add red colouring to 1 bowl and stir until combined. Add green colouring to remaining bowl and stir until combined. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge.
Place the dough between 2 sheets of baking paper and roll out until about 4mm thick. Use a 9cm gingerbread man cutter to cut out shapes. Place on trays about 3cm apart. Repeat with any excess dough.
Bake in oven for 10 minutes or until brown. Remove from oven. Transfer to a rack to cool.
Place prepared icings in small plastic bags. Cut a small hole in a corner of each bag. Pipe icing over gingerbread men to decorate. Finish with Smarties.
Day 6 of 12 Days of Christmas Challenge!? What, already!? That means were half way through to Christmas eve and till the end of the challenge!
Todays Topic is My most memorable christmas memory.
My most memorable christmas, I don’t exactly remember when this was but I remembered what happened. We had christmas at my Grandma’s beach house in the country and had lots and lots of people/family come over for a barbecue (remember this is in the southern hemisphere so its summer not winter). The present I remember that I absolutely loved was my first mp3, it was a Sony Ericson walker mp3 in pink! After present opening, catching up with family and barbecue lunch the kids went down to the beach and had a swim then came back home and all watched a christmas movie. A fun, happy, relaxing Christmas.
What is your most memorable christmas and how back can you remember?
Today is Day 5 of the 12 of christmas challenge! Where I’m talking about my favourite part of christmas!
I love everything about Christmas!
I do, but more specifically just love the spirit of Christmas. In the Christmas season everyone is into the spirit, happy and nice to everyone!
I just love spending lots of loving time with family and really making the point that Christmas isn’t all about presents and the materialistic stuff its advertised to be and remembering the real meaning of Christmas!
Today is Day 4 (early day 5 morning..oops) of the 12 days of Christmas challenge!
Anyway Todays topic is 2014 goals! When I actually sat down and thought about my goals I had no idea what my goals actually were, it was sort of like a reality check thinking about what is important to me!
Continuing to try my best at my school work. Doing things that i referred to in my school blog post. Im going to be starting new subjects which are French, Home economics and Drama. Making sure I keep school as a number one priority over extra curricular activities.
2. Balancing life
One of my most important goals is keeping everything balanced. Here is a list of things that I do throughout the year:
Dance competition team (1 competition a year)
Dance school concert
Dance lessons/rehersals (at least 3 times a week, every week)
School Choir (once a week)
Vocal Lesson(once a week)
Clarinet lessons (once a week)
School concert band (once a week)
School cabaret performance
Local theatre company production (2014)
Possibly making a youtube
3.Thinking about future
Something I need to think about is what I actually want to do in life! Whether it is musical theatre, dance, blogging/youtube or makeup artistry/retail I have many options to think through!
Lastly, taking time out of my busy schedule to look after myself, whether thats relaxing or going out for a run or even just a walk. Also I want to learn to healthy all the time, even when I’m super busy! Lastly DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!
Anyway these are some of my goals for 2014, I may think of more. What are your goals? Do you relate to mine?
Today is Day 3 of the 12 days of Christmas challenge and Today I’m talking about my top 5 Favourite christmas songs!
I love Christmas it’s just got such a happy vibe and gets everyone into the spirit!! Here are my top 5:
1: Rocking around the Christmas tree
I have vivid memories from when I was little at a Christmas concert we performed this song but had the Miley Cyrus version and had to dance in circle around the Christmas tree meaning by the end of it everyone felt sick!
2. Santa Claus is Coming to town
I was obsessed with thing song when I was little and to some degree still am, I remember once it hit December 1st everyone in my grade 3 class would constantly sing this song to the point where we drove our teacher insane hehe.
3. Baby it’s cold outside
I’m not exactly sure if this is a Christmas song but I associate it with Christmas and usually hear it around this time. Also it gives that sense of a White Christmas.
4. Jingle bell rock
This is just a classic I feel everyone loves!
Whenever I hear this song I crack up laughing thinking of the movie Mean Girls and the scene based on this song.
5. Santa Baby
It’s a nice catchy song and I love how so many different artists have covered it and changed it into there own totally different version!
Do you guys like/dislike any of these songs?
What are your favourite Christmas songs? 🙂
